Gender: Male
Age: 12 (approximately, unknown in canon)
Time Period: Just before heading into the Dark Realm
Wing Color: Blue-green, leaning slightly more towards the green side.
History: Zelda wiki link

Personality:
In the general scheme of "a Zelda gets captured and a Link goes to save" type thing, this particular Link is a little different. Not only just because instead of the whole MUST SAVE PRINCESS thing, it's more "must get Zelda's body back", and not just because it'll stop her hitting him with the giant Phantom sword. It's the underlying reason behind the whole save the world deal with the Spirit Tracks.

That aside, Link is a lot more easy-going for the hero type. Many Links before have been more of the stoic or unknowing kinds, but this Link is exceedingly friendly, willing to go out of his way to say hello and interested in just about everything going on in Hyrule. He still won't stand for innocent people getting hurt, and all the enemies in his way will be getting a serving of butt-whooping from his sword. But he's also very friendly and happy to go out of his way to help people, even if it kind of delays what he really should be doing. Link can't say no to a cry for help, something that seems to run in common with his ghostly companion. No matter what happens, if someone needs help, Link will give it, no matter how long or difficult the quest! He has energy to spare, and the enthusiasm comes across loud and clear. Because even though one never hears him talk, the reactions he gives and the way people respond to his answers gives the clear impression: Link is a happy-go-lucky kind of guy.

He's also stubborn as hell. Once he's made up his mind, it's nearly impossible to change it. Once he's started something, he will never quit! Even against overwhelming odds, he'll charge on in and usually get away with it unscratched…or sometimes very scratched but still successful, eventually. Even when the odds are against him in a boss fight, or people tell him he's too young to become an Engineer, he will plough ahead and surprise everyone by succeeding and reaching his goal.

Link's a loyal friend, even to those he barely knows, as seen when, mere minutes after meeting Zelda for the first time, he tries to protect her from the darkness. And when she ends up being a ghostly spirit, he agrees to help her. He also calms her down, as the thought of the Demon King in her body kind of creeps Zelda out. But Link often helps put her mind at ease about everything and make her smile again. And despite Zelda's occasional wild mood swings (such as the first time she finds out about the whole body possession thing – scary Zelda was scary), he puts up with her, making him a very steadfast friend. No matter what happens, Link will never let his friends down.

An unusual thing about him, but Link also seems to be overly curious about everything. This can explain his habit of hunting down every treasure chest in dungeons and breaking every pot in sight for treasure. The things you find! He's also very intelligent, from solving the puzzles the temples keep throwing at him (stupid Ocean Temple and its' bells) to getting Zelda to help him out when she's possessing a Phantom that's immune to the lava that they need to cross. Weapons he can learn to use very easily, and he has a talent for working out how to play music on the Spirit Flute. There's not much he comes across that manages to stump him for too long.

There's also his fearlessness, but one has to wonder whether it's really that or Zelda he's more afraid of. But he doesn't have any trouble driving his train around those Bomb Trains or diving into Temples with little preparation, or walking straight into rooms with traps. One could argue it borders the line between fearlessness and recklessness, but no one can argue against the fact that Link has a lot of courage for someone his age and size.

Strengths:
Weapon skills: Link is pretty smart when it comes to weapons! Within a few moments of gaining each of the new weapons in the Temples, he becomes able to use them all to their fullest extent, even working out ways to manipulate his surroundings using them. For example, within seconds of gaining the whip, he'd swinging around the temple, and using it to remove dangerous thorns to get them out of the way; when he gains the Whirlwind, he can remove poison fog, as well stun enemies. He has knowledge of how to use the following: bombs, a bow, sword, a boomerang, the mentioned whip and Whirlwind (a device that, when blown on, causes small whirlwinds in the direction you're facing), and the Sand Wand (which causes blocks of sand to rise up around or underneath him, letting him get higher).

Musical skills: Despite having next-no-contact with anything musical in his life, the second he obtains the Spirit Flute he becomes fairly proficient at playing it. He is able to complete all the duets with the Lokomos throughout Hyrule, several of which are very complicated and involve skipping pipes while keeping his timing, and restore the Spirit Tracks by doing so. He can also use several songs described below. With modly permission, I'd like him to keep the Flute.
-- Song of Awakening: awakens the Gossip Stones (therefore useless in Luceti)
-- Song of Healing: heals Link once per dungeon (so probably about once a month in Luceti?)
-- Song of Discovery: reveals hidden treasure in the ground (most likely useless)
-- Song of Light: causes diamond-shapes structures to rise and emit light (useless in Luceti)
-- Song of Birds: draws in all the birds that hear it to Link (not overly useful, with limited range)

Resilience, stubbornness, and courage: Link is a very resilient kid! Several times during boss battles he's been rammed off the platform and into a large fall, and come out not too worse for wear. And that's where his stubbornness comes in. Once he takes on a mission, be it to help Zelda or take on a tough boss, he will do it not matter what. If he gets rammed off, he'll just climb on back up and take them on again. Link can be counted on to do whatever it takes to get the job done. His courage is far greater than anyone would expect of someone his size.

Intelligence: Not only just with the weapons he finds and learning how to use them, but Link is also pretty smart when it comes to puzzles. He pushes on through various temples, working out their puzzles, even the strange puzzles in the Ocean Temple where the bells had to be pushed into their correct place and then rung in a specific order using the boomerang, such order having to be found and understood from elsewhere in the dungeon. His intelligence is also shows in that he is capable of driving a train! He does so to get around during the game. He also has a good deal of leadership skills, as seen when he directs Zelda around to escape the guards while he distracts them, and later tells her to distract phantoms, or grab items, or just help him get around when she is possessing a phantom.

Ability to see spirits: Unlike everyone else in the game, not including Lokomos or anyone actually involved in the plot, Link can see Zelda in her spirit/ghost form. How he can isn't really explained.

Weaknesses:
Willingness to do things: It's both a good thing and a bad. While Link can be counted on to do things his friends ask, it can also cause him to deviate from things he should be doing. Such as carting around the extremely hard to transport Dark Matter for Linebeck III or collecting all the rabbits ever, rather than completing the next temple so the Tower of Spirits can pull itself together again. He's also pretty prone to doing whatever Zelda asks him to do. She is a scary, scary girl when she wants to be. Or even when she doesn't realise it (such as her freak out upon finding out what was planned to happen to her body).

Age and height: In physical terms, Link is pretty short when compared to the adults of his world. His young age and small build would cause him to be overpowered pretty easily without his weapons. Several of the enemies, such as the Zora warriors, can knock him flying pretty far, and bosses overpower him completely. He isn't very strong, outside of being able to lift small rocks. And when he pushes himself, or gets hit really hard, it can stun him and cause him to have to stop and catch his breath. His age also means he doesn't have knowledge about things adults would know.

Loyalty: Loyalty, while a strength, is also a weakness. Link is very easily hurt, if you target those he cares for. It's also pretty easy to gain his trust and get around to double-crossing him. Link will willingly do a lot for anyone, from getting ice for the Gorons so they can get back into their village, to organising patrols for the Anouki tribe. So it's very easy to get his trust by playing nice. Back-stabbing Link is a sure way to hurt him easily, especially if he trusted you a lot. Though, while it hurts him, it can also guarantee you an ass-whooping if you hurt someone he cared about. Or at least an attempted one.

Recklessness and curiosity: Link's natural fearlessness (or whenever Zelda's telling him to go do something) can result in him becoming curious about things he really shouldn't be, causing fearlessness to become recklessness. While he's more than willing to go charging on into places, there are times when this gets him in trouble. The first time in the Tower of Spirits, Link runs into a Phantom that threatens to give him a hell of a pounding. This is one time when his fearlessness fails and he runs for it. However it comes back and results in him getting into trouble again. His eagerness to explore everywhere ends up with him trapped in rooms that cause him to defeat dangerous enemies in order to be able to escape.

Stubbornness: In some ways this is a good thing. In many others, it's not. While Link will determinedly go on and attempt things until they are done, he will do this to the point where he's hurting himself. He will roll and roll and roll until he's dizzy, something that also comes up when he uses his Great Spin attack with his sword. He will keep fighting a boss even when it's beating him, even after he's been thrown off a cliff to the point that he can barely move. It's unhealthy, but it's how Link is. He never gives up until he wins…or he gets beaten.

First Person:
[At first, there's a bit of scrawl and scribble, as Link figures out how this thing works. Since it seems to be working, he hesitantly starts to write. His handwriting isn't the neatest, but it's legible]

Okay, I think I have this figured out. Since I can see all that writing being added with those little pictures, if I write in this, other people should be able to see it, right? I guess this book is magical after all…

Can someone tell me what this place is? The last thing I remember I was driving the Spirit Train to the Dark Realm…and now I'm here. This forest doesn't look like anywhere I've been before, and I was sure I'd been everywhere in the Forest Realm… [He pauses here for a moment, musing on that. Then he remembers he was in the middle of writing and continues]

Oh yeah – does anyone know what happened to my stuff? My sword and things are missing…I really need to find them again. [Especially the Spirit Flute. Oh man, he needs to find that, stat] And if anyone's seen the princess [Strikes that out, people can't see her. Right, right] If anyone's seen a pink suit of armour that walks around and has the voice of a girl, can you tell me? I need to make sure she's okay…I wonder if we both came here or not…

…I guess that's all. [He hopes this thing really works] Thanks!

Third Person:
Going from driving your train off to enter the Dark Realm and finally defeat the Demon King to suddenly waking up in the middle of a forest was a disorientating experience. Link let out a groan so that anyone that happened to be nearby could be alerted of this fact.

"Zelda?" he muttered, trying to sit upright. His back hurt… had he landed on it somehow? Once he'd pushed himself upright, he reached around to rub said back gingerly. And then stopped and blinked, craning his head over his shoulder in alarm. "W-what?" Did… did he seriously have wings? He tugged on a feather and felt the response from it, a twinge of pain. He tried to move them, and found they responded. He had wings. Blue-green, feathery wings.

What in Hyrule was going on?

"Zelda!" Tell him she was near. Around now, he noticed his clothing was gone, along with his weapons and the Spirit Flute. Oh crap, Zelda was going to kill him if she found out he'd lost it. His clothes seemed to be nearby at least… this was so strange. "Where am I?" he muttered, looking around as he got to his feet finally. He didn't recognise the forest. It wasn't the Lost Woods, and it didn't seem to be anywhere in the Forest Realm… strange. Had he been teleported somewhere else?

"Zelda I hope you're okay," Link murmured to himself, going to get his clothes. He also hoped that he'd be able to find his weapons. He was in so much trouble without them. Maybe they'd gotten scattered nearby…

Wings fluttered anxiously as he pulled his tunic on, noticing the journal nearby. "What are you?" he asked it, sitting down again and pulling it into his lap. Upon opening it, he head-tilted a little confused by what he was seeing. What was this? It seemed that there were already things written in it… and more were being added to it even as he read. A magical journal? Perhaps… it would make as much sense as everything else he had seen in his adventure. Nothing really phased Link anymore.

Perhaps if he wrote in it, whoever was writing all this other stuff could tell him what was going on here. It was worth a shot! Nodding to himself, he settled down with his back against a tree to write.
